Education and Religion

Ontario is a very diverse province, so the question debated on Steve Paikin’s show asks why Catholic schools receive federal funding when no other religion does?

Those who live in Ontario, know this is a complicated issue, steeped with a lot of history – much of which is expanded in this episode.  The questions concern the role of two federally funded school boards, the issue of discrimination and the constitutional issues that surround the funding questions.

What is most appreciated about this particular debate is its balance and respectfulness.  Paikin has assembled a balanced room of voices that look at the options that are frequently discussed without the same degree of respect.
